Malaga nightlife: the best ideas for having fun

If there’s one thing the Malagueños know well, it’s having fun: so every night is a new party! If you are going to visit the Andalusian city, here are some tips to enjoy Malaga’s nightlife.

Where the Malaga nightlife takes place

The areas where Malaga’s nightlife takes place are different, below we quickly recommend the best and most popular ones.

  • The historical center. This is the heart of the nightlife of the Andalusian city. Around Plaza de la Merced and Plaza de Uncibay you will find many locals of all ages. Among the narrow and winding pedestrian streets you will find discos, nightclubs, pubs and numerous bars where live music is played.
  • La Malagueta. The promenade of the city beach has become one of the favorite meeting places for young people. Here you will find both restaurants where you can dine, relaxing places for after-dinner drinks, and bathing establishments that turn into real discos on summer evenings.
  • El Palo and Pedregalejo. These areas of the promenade are the most frequented by young people looking for fun during the summer: cocktails at very low prices and free admission to clubs where dancing are the reason why this area is frequented mainly by students.

  • Benalmadena and Torremolinos. These are the two places around Malaga that attract the most tourists during the summer. Here, in addition to the beautiful beaches, nightlife is guaranteed if you love to dance until morning.

What to do in Malaga at night

Now that you know the perfect areas to enjoy the Malaga nightlife, we suggest some of the best things to do in the city at night.

Taste tapas

The first advice, of course, is to try tapas. The latter are one of the reasons why we recommend you to visit Malaga: in the Andalusian city you can eat really well!

Among the best tapas in the city, we suggest you to taste the tortilla de patatas, patatas bravas and croquetas caseras, excellent croquettes with béchamel.

A great idea to start the evening is to take part in our Food Tour of Malaga. The tour starts at 18.00, lasts 3 hours 30 and is guided by a local person who will not only tell you some of the curiosities about the city, but will also take you to discover some of the best places to taste tapas. The tastings will be different and all will allow you to get in touch with the real and authentic Andalusian gastronomic tradition.

Take a walk to the Mirador de Gibralfaro

After dinner you could take the opportunity to walk to the Mirador de Gibralfaro, a panoramic terrace with a magnificent view of Malaga.

We warn you, the climb is tiring, but the spectacle is assured.

Moreover, by coming here in the evening, you will save yourself the trouble of doing so under the scorching sun of the day.

Sip a beer or a cocktail in one of the many clubs

If you prefer to relax and rest after a long and tiring day of sightseeing, we suggest you sit in one of the many clubs in the city for a cocktail or a beer.

If you want to mingle with the locals, choose the area of the old town, if you are going to continue the night in a discotheque, approach the Malagueta.

Among the many clubs in Malaga we recommend Terraza Larios to sip a cocktail while admiring a magnificent view of the city, Café with Libros for an experience of bohemian charm and the Antigua Casa de Guardia to taste excellent local wines.

Dancing till late at the disco

If you love to stay up late at night and you like to go dancing, we recommend that you continue the night in one of the many discos in the city.

As we explained at the beginning you can find clubs in the alleys of the old town, but some of the best discos are located near the Malagueta or in the nearby towns of Benalmadena and Torremolinos.

Among the most famous and biggest discos in the Andalusian city there are Sala Gold and Andén, but it is also very nice the Disco Liceo, housed in an old palace of the nineteenth century.
